An attempt was made to convert in the name of getting rid of the disease

Lucknow. A case of attempt to convert hundreds of people has come to light in Barabanki. It is being told that on the pretext of a prayer meeting, hundreds of people were called from different districts of the state and gathered in a church here. All these people were tricked and brought here in the name of getting relief from diseases and troubles.

When Hindu organizations came to know about this, they reached the spot and started creating ruckus outside the church. After this the police administration was informed. On which the police of several police stations including CO, SDM reached the spot and picked up all the people from the prayer meeting and took them to the police station. During this period, many books including Christian texts were recovered from everyone. Police have detained 6 people for trying to convert. The matter pertains to St. Mathew Church of Mati Chowki area of Deva Kotwali.

People were brought from Ayodhya-Sultanpur

It is being told that about 300 people from many districts including Ayodhya, Sultanpur and Jagdishpur were called to the prayer meeting in the church. These people reached the church at around 12.30 pm in pickups, loaders and cars. These included children, old people and women. Everyone was seated in the big hall on the first floor of the church.

People said- We remain ill, we were asked to cure

Ram Sundar, who was sitting in the prayer meeting, said, “We have been brought here to pray. We were told that by coming here, our health gets cured. My health is bad, that is why I have come here. This is what we were told.” Has gone. Many people from Baldirai have come with me.” The woman who came from Ayedhya with a child in her lap told that we are ill and have been brought here with the promise of getting well. Here we will pray. Apart from this, a large number of women and children were sitting in the hall.

ASP said – counting of people is being done

Barabanki Additional Superintendent of Police CN on this entire matter. Sinha said, “Police-administration had received information about the big game of religious conversion in St. Matthew’s Church. On which, along with the forces of several police stations, SDM Bijay Kumar Trivedi, CO City Dr. Binu Singh, CO Sadar Sumit Tripathi, etc. Reached the spot. All the people are being kept inside and they are being counted. From here, 6 people are being detained and interrogated. Whoever is found guilty in this case, the strictest action will be taken against them all.”
