Bharatiya Janata Party’s National Spokespersons, Sardar RP Singh and Shri Shehzad Poonawala, jointly addressed a press conference at the Central Office on Saturday. They criticized the Aam Aadmi Party for made to a woman to walk naked in Punjab and the Trinamool Congress government for the attack on Central Investigation Agency officials. They held both parties responsible for this alarming incident.
Sardar RP Singh highlighted that sexual atrocities against women are occurring regularly in Punjab, and criminal activities are rampant. Instead of addressing the state’s law and order issues, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh is preoccupied with defending Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and participating in the Aam Aadmi Party’s election campaign. Shri Shahzad Poonawala stated that the TMC goons in West Bengal are openly attacking officers of central investigating agencies. He stated that instead of taking action against the culprits, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s government makes efforts to protect the criminals.
Sardar RP Singh stated that the deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab is known to everyone. However, an incident that occurred on March 31st has alerted everyone, indicating that there seems to be a lack of respect and dignity towards women in society. Shri Singh emphasized that Punjab is the land of gurus who have taught everyone to respect all, but the incident that took place in Valtoha village has brought shame to everyone. He highlighted that the way a 55-year-old woman was subjected to heinous acts, beaten, stripped, and paraded naked in the village market is disgraceful. Such incidents continue to occur constantly in Punjab. But Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann shows no interest in governing the state, he spends most of his time in Delhi, campaigning for his party. Bhagwant Mann spends more time protecting the alcohol mafia, aka Arvind Kejriwal.
Sardar Shri RP Singh stated that the continuous collaboration between the builder mafia and gangsters in Punjab to establish their own separate rule is also alarming because no action is taken against them. Shri RP Singh highlighted that all such incidents have started recently because the state government there has completely failed to maintain law and order. Bhagwant Mann’s government runs its politics in Punjab according to Arvind kejriwal’s dictates. Shri RP Singh stated that the Valhota incident is even more shameful because the victim complained, but the police did not take any action on her complaint for 4 days, and the accused were not arrested. When his video went viral, then Bhagwant Mann’s government started action. Last month, on March 3, a 12-year-old girl was raped in Hoshiarpur, Punjab. Last year, an incident of rape and assault of a disabled woman came to light in Hoshiarpur. In August of 2023, a female basketball player was raped and thrown from the roof of a stadium. In September, 2023, a married woman was raped at gunpoint. This shows how severely flawed the state’s law and order situation is, which has completely collapsed.
BJP National Spokesperson Shri Shehzad Poonawalla highlighted the deteriorating law and order situation in Bengal and Punjab, expressing the frustration of the people. Shri Poonawalla criticized the INDI alliance leaders for prioritizing power over the well-being of the states. Shri Poonawalla lamented the transformation of West Bengal under Mamata Banerjee’s leadership, stating that the once revered land of Rabindranath Tagore now suffers under the reputation of TMC as Terror, Mafia, and Corruption. Under their governance, it’s undeniable that Bengal’s law and order situation hits new lows daily. The terror situation in Rabindranath Tagore’s Bengal is alarming, evident in the insecurity faced by officers of central agencies. In such an environment, it’s difficult for ‘Maa, Maati, Maanush’ to feel safe.
Shri Poonawalla emphasized that recent events depicted nothing short of Sandeshkhali 2.0, evoking memories of past incidents. Shri Poonawalla referred to the day in January when Enforcement Directorate officials, acting within the bounds of the constitution, arrived in West Bengal to investigate the ration scam. This scam, which deprived the poorest people of West Bengal of their rightful ration, was allegedly benefiting TMC leaders like Shahjahan Sheikh. Shri Poonawalla highlighted that the attack on the ED officials, similar to Sandeshkhali 1.0, was orchestrated, sponsored, protected, and organized by the TMC. Similarly, in East Medinipur district where a team from the National Investigation Agency was attacked during a raid related to a 2022 bomb blast case. This attack was also sponsored, patronized, protected, and organized by the TMC to obstruct the ongoing investigation.
Shri Shehzad Poonawalla noted a consistent pattern in both attacks. Shri Shehzad Poonawalla pointed out that before the arrival of Central Agencies, the TMC and its senior leaders incited the mob against the agencies, creating a hostile environment conducive to attacks. After the attacks, senior TMC leaders came forward to justify the violence, offering various reasons to rationalize the assault. Shri Poonawalla emphasized that during her rally in Cooch Behar, Mamata Banerjee made provocative statements against the Central agencies, particularly targeting the NIA involved in investigating terror activities. Following the attack on the NIA, TMC’s top leader, Mamata Banerjee came forward to justify the violence and gave a clean chit to the accused. This sequence of events indicates a well-planned act by the TMC rather than mere coincidence, reflecting a Taliban-like mindset and culture among certain individuals.
Shri Poonawalla highlighted that under Mamata Banerjee’s Taliban-like mindset and culture regime, violence against central agency officials, political violence and corruption has been institutionalized. An institutionalization of protection for radical elements has also occurred and has become state-sponsored. Shri Poonawalla questioned Mamata Banerjee, stating that when Shahjahan Sheikh orchestrated an attack on ED officials, is it not true that for almost 55 days, the West Bengal police and TMC government protected him? When the High Court transferred Shahjahan’s case to the CBI, Mamata Banerjee’s government went to the Supreme Court to try to prevent a CBI probe into the entire matter and protect Shahjahan Sheikh.
Shri Poonawalla stated that it is evident to everyone how Shahjahan Sheikh while showing the victory sign, was swaggering under the protection of the West Bengal police. Today, the same kind of protection is being given to the Jamaat, which is preparing to carry out Sandeshkhali 2.0. Shri Poonawalla emphasized that in the TMC government now, the slogan ‘Maa, Maati, Maanush‘ has been replaced by ‘bomb, blast, aur balatkari bachao’. It is clear today that TMC stands for ‘Too Much Corruption’ and also ‘Too Much Chaos’.
Shri Shehzad Poonawalla highlighted that Mamata Banerjee often addresses the assembly to advocate for the protection of a rapist, while also scrutinizing the actions of central agencies in defence of corrupt officials. On occasions when central police forces are deployed to provide protection during post-election violence, they are met with opposition from TMC leaders. And now, when the NIA steps in to investigate terrorism cases, Mamata Banerjee stands by them in defence.
