MCX records turnover of Rs.9685.34 crores in Commodity Futures & Rs.37089.52 crores in Options

GOLD Oct-24 futures contract gains by 0.31% and SILVER Dec-24 futures contract gains by 0.05%, while CRUDEOIL Sep-24 futures contract drops by 1.29% : Bullion Index MCXBULLDEX Sep-24 futures was reached at 18372 point

Mumbai : India’s leading commodity derivatives exchange, Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) has recorded turnover of Rs.46775.5 crores in various futures & option contracts for commodities listed at MCX on 18 September 2024 till 5:00 pm. In which commodity futures accounted for Rs. 9685.34 crores and options on commodity futures for Rs. 37089.52 crores (notional). Bullion Index MCXBULLDEX Sep-24 futures was reached at 18372 point.

Commodity Future Contracts:

Bullion: In precious metals, Turnover of Gold and Silver variants clocked Rs. 5376.21 crores. GOLD Oct-24 contract was up by 0.31% to Rs. 73318 per 10 gram, GOLDGUINEA Sep-24 contract was up by 0.24% to Rs. 59347 per 8 gram and GOLDPETAL Sep-24 contract was up by 0.39% to Rs. 7192 per gram. On other hand, GOLDM Oct-24 contract was up by 0.31% to Rs. 73245 per 10 gram.

SILVER Dec-24 contract was up by 0.05% to Rs. 89187 per kg, while SILVERM Nov-24 contract was up by 0.06% to Rs. 89124 per kg and SILVERMIC Nov-24 contract was up by 0.08% to Rs. 89121 per kg.

Gold futures clocked turnover of Rs. 2361.95 crores with volume of 3224 lots and OI of 21571 lots while Silver futures clocked turnover of Rs. 1439.42 crores with volume of 5395 lots and OI of 25981 lots.

Base Metal: Turnover of base metal products accounted for Rs. 2390.65 crores. COPPER Sep-24 contract was up by 0.32% to Rs. 810.5 per kg and ZINC Sep-24 contract was down by 0.04% to Rs. 267.4 per kg while ALUMINIUM Sep-24 contract was up by 0.5% to Rs. 231.1 per kg and LEAD Sep-24 contract was up by 0.44% to Rs. 183.75 per kg.

Copper futures clocked turnover of Rs. 1594.93 crores, Aluminium futures Rs. 227.63 crores, Lead futures Rs. 48.02 crores, and Zinc futures clocked turnover of Rs. 357.06 crores.

Energy: Turnover of energy products contributed for Rs. 1947.66 crores. CRUDEOIL Sep-24 contract was down by 1.29% to Rs. 5912 per BBL while NATURALGAS Sep-24 contract was up by 0.15% to Rs. 196.8 per MMBTU.

Crude Oil futures clocked turnover of Rs. 700.12 crores and Natural Gas futures Rs. 1045.47 crores.

AGRI: MENTHAOIL Sep-24 contract was up by 0.25% to Rs. 948 per kg and COTTONCNDY Sep-24 contract was down by 0.12% to Rs. 58600 per candy.

Options on Commodity Future Contracts:

Commodity Options accounted for Rs. 37089.52 crores turnover (notional), having premium turnover of Rs. 809.76 crores.

Crude Oil Options: Most traded contracts among Crude Oil Options were Call Option Oct-24 contract at Strike price of Rs.5900 was down by 14.55% to Rs. 192.70 with volume of 44532 lots & OI of 11537 lots, while Crude Oil Put Option Oct-24 contract at Strike price of Rs.5800 was up by 19.73% to Rs. 219.1 with volume of 31800 lots & OI of 5091 lots.

Natural Gas Options: Most traded contracts among Natural Gas Options were Call Option Sep-24 contract at Strike price of Rs.190 was up by 3.16% to Rs. 9.80 with volume of 19393 lots & OI of 6423 lots, while Natural Gas Put Option Sep-24 contract at Strike price of Rs.185 was up by 2.7% to Rs. 1.9 with volume of 15342 lots & OI of 6894 lots.

Gold Options: Most traded contracts among Gold Options were Call Option Sep-24 contract at Strike price of Rs.74000 was up by 26.71% to Rs. 360.50 with volume of 1653 lots & OI of 1445 lots, while Gold Put Option Sep-24 contract at Strike price of Rs.73000 was down by 12.63% to Rs. 519 with volume of 1303 lots & OI of 1125 lots.

Silver Options: Most traded contracts among Silver Options were Call Option Nov-24 contract at Strike price of Rs.90000 was up by 0.56% to Rs. 3499.00 with volume of 410 lots & OI of 897 lots, while Silver Put Option Nov-24 contract at Strike price of Rs.85000 was up by 1.33% to Rs. 1945 with volume of 252 lots & OI of 758 lots.
