The founder of Aytexcel Pvt Ltd adds that laser projectors promising wider screens are fast replacing traditional TVs and monitors

India is witnessing a rapid shift towards high-quality, widescreen home entertainment experiences that cater to evolving consumer preferences. Devices like ultra short throw projectors, which can offer screen sizes up to 150 inches even from a short distance, are quickly replacing traditional TVs and monitors. One of the key drivers behind this transformation is the growing demand for wider screens in home entertainment. The availability of immersive HD content and films on OTT platforms, along with the popularity of  graphic-intensive high-quality games, are reshaping how entertainment is consumed at home.

India also has one of the largest youth populations in the world, with a majority interested in gaming, as highlighted by various study reports. According to Mordor Intelligence, India’s gaming market size is estimated at US$3.49 billion in 2024 and is expected to reach US$7.24 billion by 2029, growing at a CAGR of 15.68 per cent.

“Big screens are revolutionising the gaming experience for players in India’s home entertainment segment by providing enhanced visibility, sharper image quality and an expansive field of view. Supporting 4K and ultra-HD resolutions, these displays can elevate graphics and motion, which is especially important for fast-paced games. Higher refresh rates and quicker response times give gamers a competitive advantage, particularly in eSports and action-adventure games. Large screens also encourage social gaming, offering a more cinematic experience that can be shared with friends and family. As these devices become more affordable, more gamers are opting for them,” says Sushil Motwani, the founder of Aytexcel Pvt Ltd, which is the official distributor of Formovie projectors in India.

Another factor, according to him, is the advent of more OTT platforms and 4K content, including movies, web series, and TV shows, which demand a theatre-like experience at home. “Popular streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime offer high-resolution content in 4K Ultra HD, Dolby Vision and HDR. Larger screens can showcase crisper images and vibrant colours, in the   quality intended by filmmakers and cinematographers. Powered by advancements in sound technology like Dolby Atmos, these large screens can elevate the content’s quality to the next level,” adds Mr Motwani.

He says that the integration of the latest technologies enables these widescreen projectors to meet the modern consumer’s demand for cutting-edge advancements. “For instance, from our own experience, we have seen an increased demand from our customers for ALPD®️ (Advanced Laser Phosphor Display) technology in our devices. It provides superior brightness, colour accuracy and image quality by using lasers instead of lamps, enabling larger screens with clear visuals. When selecting projectors, they also consider health aspects, including eye strain reduction, multiple connectivity options and the latest display systems,” concludes Mr Motwani.
