IDCA 8th T-20 National Cricket Championship for Deaf concludes with felicitation ceremony ,Delhi Deaf Team declared as winner while Bengal Deaf Team bagged the runner – up position

Bihar: The final match of IDCA 8th T-20 National Cricket Championship for Deaf was held from October 13th to 19th 2024 in which especially abled Hearing Impaired men’s teams from 19 states of the country competed to clinch the coveted champions trophy. The final match was between Delhi and Bengal Team held at 19th October at Urja Stadium, Patna, Bihar.
The Indian Deaf Cricket Association (IDCA)’s organised the IDCA 8th T-20 National Cricket Championship for Deaf in Patna, Bihar concludes with a spectacular closing ceremony. The Chief Guest of the Ceremony, Hon’ble Governor of Bihar, Shri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar presented the winning trophy to the Delhi Deaf Team and the runner-up trophy to the Bengal Deaf Team.
And the Guest of Honor Shri Madan Sahani, Minister of Social Welfare, Shri Dilip Kumar Jaiswal, Minister of Revenue and Land Reforms. & Shri Maheswar Hazari, Minister of Information and Public Relations, Govt. of Bihar and Shri Vijay Prakash Meena, IAS, Director, Social Welfare Department, Govt. of Bihar also attended the event to congratulate the players.
Santosh Kumar Rai, IAS welcomed all the dignities on this momentous occasion and shared that The Deaf Cricketers need support and opportunities so that they can perform better and they can be mainstreamed into the society. He thanked Govt of Bihar specially social welfare Department and Sports Department for the wholehearted support in organizing this championship. He also promised that due successful organization of this event, IDCA will try that at least one National or International Tournament shall definitely be held in Bihar henceforth.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Sumit Jain, President, IDCA said, “It was an exhilarating match that kept us on the edge of our seats from beginning to end. The players displayed their exceptional skills on the field and their passion for the game through their outstanding performance. This performance showcased how far they have come in terms of polishing their skills and their overall development. I congratulate all the winners and players who were part of this tournament and commend their dedication and hard work, which made the event a tremendous success. I would also like to thank our sponsors, without whom this tournament would not have been possible.
Hon’ble Governor said that this really a matter of pride that for the first time National Championship for Deaf at such large scale is being held in Patna in which 19 teams are participating and thanked IDCA for the same. He also said that it is our duty that we should provide opportunity and platform to these Divyang Cricketers. He further promised that he will ensure that all the schemes that are meant for the Divyangjans are truly translated on the ground.
Hon’ble Social Welfare Minister said that if he were not aware that this is the match being played by Deaf Cricketers then he would not have recognized that these players are Deaf because they were playing like normal national and international cricketers. Such is the level of their game. He also promised all support from the Govt of Bihar to Divyangjans. He also extended full support of the Department for the Divyangjans and stressed upon initiatives of the Govt of Bihar to ensure accessibilities to Divyangjans in all walks of life.
Hon’ble Revenue & Land Reforms Minister said appreciated Hon’ble Governor for gracing the occasion and felt it fortunate that he is part of the such noble initiative and extended all his support to such future endeavours.
Hon’ble Information & Public Relations Minister said that this championship is for the noble cause and thanked IDCA President Mr. Sumit Jain and IAS Santosh Kumar Rai for organizing this championship in Patna.
Mr. Virender Singh from Delhi Deaf Team were named as the Man of the Match in the Final match between Delhi vs Bengal, Mr. Sharik Majeed from Jammu and Kashmir Deaf Team bagged the Best Batsman of the series award, Mr. Akash Singh from Bengal Deaf Team bagged the Best Bowler of the Series title, and Mr. Virender Singh from Delhi Deaf Team received the Player of the Series award.
