This makes education more engaging, accessible and enhances critical thinking

Recently, researchers at Effat University developed a machine learning-based software tool to predict students’ future academic performance. Designed to assist academic advisors, the system helps identify students needing additional support, allowing institutions to intervene early and allocate resources more effectively. The model is user-friendly and does not require expertise in computer science, making it accessible to academic counsellors and teachers. By analysing students’ grade point averages (GPAs) alongside other academic and demographic data, it predicts final GPAs with high accuracy.

This innovation highlights how EdTech is reshaping the modern classroom for both students and faculty. Traditional teaching methods are becoming a thing of the past, replaced by digital learning tools. According to a FICCI EY report, nearly 60 per cent of schools in India have adopted smart classrooms, e-learning platforms and digital assessments. As more schools, whether newly launched or well-established, embrace EdTech, they are equipping students with the skills needed to navigate future challenges.

“Personalised learning, which allows students to progress at their own pace by blending in-person teaching with online resources, is now widely adopted by schools. EdTech enhances this approach by offering immersive, interactive experiences that cater to diverse learning styles, making students active participants in their education. These tools also personalise content recommendations, study schedules, and support, ensuring flexibility and collaboration among students and educators,” says Abhishek Mohan Gupta, Founder and President of the Board of Management for Shrewsbury International School India.

He highlights how advanced analytics in EdTech assist educators, publishers, and institutions in tracking learning progress, engagement levels and content consumption patterns. “This data-driven approach enables informed decisions on course development, technology adoption and personalised support strategies,” adds Mr Gupta.

The significance of EdTech in India’s education system is also reinforced by the National Education Policy, which establishes the National Educational Technology Forum (NETF) as an autonomous body. NETF serves as a platform for open discussions on leveraging technology to improve learning, assessment, planning, and administration across both school and higher education.

“It will play a crucial role in identifying technological solutions to enhance teaching, learning, and evaluation processes, support teacher training and professional development, expand educational access, and streamline planning and administration, including admissions, attendance and assessments,” says Mr Gupta.

He concludes that EdTech will play a pivotal role in enabling students to create, discover and share knowledge collaboratively.
