Mumbai, April 2025: Summer brings with it a wave of nostalgia and simple pleasures—long days, school holidays, and the sweet taste of seasonal fruits. For most of us, mangoes are the undisputed star of this season, and for actor Rajat Verma, who play Ratan Vyas in Shemaroo Umang’s show Jamuniya, mangoes aren’t just a fruit—they’re a heartfelt reminder of home, family, and cherished childhood memories.

Reminiscing about his early years, Rajat shares, “Mango brings a bundle of memories and emotions for me. It’s rightly called the king of fruits. Every time I eat a mango; it takes me back to my childhood days when I lived with my grandparents during school time.”

He paints a warm picture of his evenings back then, when he spent time with his grandfather and the entire family and enjoyed the moment of togetherness. “My grandfather used to bring an entire carton of mangoes, and in the evenings, we would all sit together with a big tub full of mangoes. As we enjoyed the fruit, he would tell us stories, little tales that still live in my heart.”

Rajat’s very first memory of mango is equally endearing. “My first memory of mango was at my nani’s house. I didn’t like it at first, but then I tasted raw mango with salt, and it was so tangy and tasty, I loved it! Later, when nani would feed me ripe mangoes with a spoon, I completely fell in love with them.”

When asked about his favourites, Rajat doesn’t hesitate: “My favorite mango varieties are Langda and Alphonso. Langda has that perfect sweet and tangy mix and a nice firm texture, while Alphonso is what I crave when I want something extra delicious and juicy.”
Rajat’s mango memories remind us that it’s often the simplest things—like sitting with family and sharing stories over a fruit—that become the most treasured chapters of our lives.

Catch Rajat Verma in Jamuniya, every Monday to Saturday at 8:00 PM, only on Shemaroo Umang—where heartfelt stories come to life.
