
Bhubaneswar:
The 16th Bharatmuni Festival 2025, a two-day celebration of Indian classical dance and music, was held on 11th and 12th December 2025 at the Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Research Centre, Bhubaneswar.
The festival was inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr. Arun Kumar Sahoo, in the presence of eminent Indian writer and editor Dr. Gourahari Das and Chairman Dr. Jitendra Nath Mishra. The event was organised under the guidance of Trustee Guru Smt. Puspita Mishra and Director Sri Anshuman Mishra, with the proceedings conducted by festival anchor Dr. Murtunjay Rath.
The Bharatmuni Sanman, along with a cash prize of ₹50,000, was conferred upon Padma Vibhushan Sri Sudarshan Sahoo, eminent sculptor, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Indian art and culture.
On 11th December, performances included a Kathak recital by Smt. Anuradha Singh, an Odissi recital by Guru Sri Niranjan Rout, and a Mardala presentation by Guru Sri Dhaneswar Swain. On 12th December, the festival featured a Nāṭyaśāstra–based recital by Smt. Anita Sharma and an Odissi group recital by Kalingayana Touryatrikam.
The festival concluded successfully with the participation of senior artists, students, scholars, and cultural enthusiasts.
