Chennai, December 2024 – As the city comes alive with the vibrant energy of the art and music season, FICCI FLO Chennai is celebrating this cultural crescendo with a series of powerful initiatives that honour inclusivity, heritage, and artistic expression.
FLO Chennai began this festive month by hosting the Able Art Festival in collaboration with RASA – Ramana Sunritya Aalaya, a heartwarming showcase featuring Indian Dance Theatre presentations by artistes with differing abilities. The event highlighted FLO’s commitment to representation, empathy, and the transformative power of the arts.
Carrying this spirit forward, FLO Chennai now presents its marquee cultural event of the season – SAREE SYMPHONY, an evening with the legendary Usha Uthup, on 22nd December at ITC Grand Chola.
Marking the global celebration of World Saree Day on 21st December, this event pays tribute to one of India’s most cherished symbols of identity and heritage – the saree. And there could be no better ambassador than Usha Uthup, an evergreen icon who has embraced the saree as her signature style through her extraordinary musical journey. Her presence creates the perfect union of music, legacy, womanhood, and Indian textile heritage.
Mrs. Poonam Sharma, National President (2025–26) of FICCI FLO, a distinguished entrepreneur and advocate for Ayurveda and women’s empowerment, will also be gracing the occasion, adding to the significance of this cultural celebration.
Chairperson Niyati A. Mehta and the FLO Chennai committee presents an evening woven with rhythm, tradition, and the timeless grace of the saree – an ode to India’s cultural richness.
As part of its ongoing celebration of the arts, FLO Chennai will also lead its members on a curated visit to the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, further reinforcing its dedication to promoting artistic awareness, creative dialogue, and immersive cultural experiences for women leaders.
“December is a month when Chennai opens its heart to art and music. At FLO, we wanted to honour this season by not just celebrating creativity, but by participating in it meaningfully through inclusivity, through heritage, and through unforgettable artistic experiences,” said Niyati A. Mehta, Chairperson, FLO Chennai.
SAREE SYMPHONY promises an enchanting evening that brings together music, culture, and the magic of Indian handlooms, marking FLO Chennai’s continued commitment to empowering women through the arts and fostering a deeper cultural engagement in the city.
