Farooq was taken into police custody after his wife, Tahira, and their daughters, Afreen and Sahreen, were reported missing for several days. During questioning, he confessed to killing all three. According to police, Farooq admitted to shooting his wife and elder daughter while strangling his younger daughter to death.
Officials said Tahira and the two girls had been missing for nearly ten days. Farooq’s father grew suspicious and alerted the police, fearing that something serious had occurred. Initially, Farooq attempted to mislead investigators, but after sustained interrogation, he confessed to the crime and disclosed the location where the bodies had been buried.
During interrogation, Farooq told investigators that he was angered by his wife and daughters for not following his instructions to remain indoors and wear a burqa when stepping outside. He claimed this resentment pushed him to plan their murder. To carry out the crime, he allegedly purchased an illegal country-made pistol and cartridges from Kairana. Police also revealed that a pit had been dug earlier in the house courtyard, which Farooq had claimed was meant for the construction of a toilet.
Police said Tahira had been staying at her parental home at the time. Farooq called her back and, on the night of December 8, woke her under the pretext of making tea before shooting her. The gunshot awakened their two daughters. He then shot the elder daughter, Afreen, and strangled the younger one, Sahreen. After killing all three, he buried their bodies in the septic tank in the courtyard of the house.
On the evening of December 16, acting on Farooq’s confession, police exhumed the septic tank and recovered the bodies of Tahira and her two daughters. Shamli Senior Superintendent of Police NP Singh confirmed that information about the missing woman and children had been received through the village head. Farooq has been arrested, and further legal proceedings are underway.
