MUMBAI: Addressing a press conference on December 22, Alok Kumar, International Working President of the Vishva Hindu Parishad and Senior Advocate, strongly condemned the brutal murder of Hindu youth Deepu Chandra Das by a mob in Mymensingh, Bangladesh, and expressed profound grief. He stated that this heinous incident was carried out on the night following allegations of alleged blasphemy. Alok Kumar ji said that, according to reports, Deepu Chandra Das had written, “All gods are one, only their names are different.” This was labelled as blasphemy, and as a result, he was burned alive. He remarked that such thinking is extremely dangerous, as it directly challenges the very foundation of secularism in India. He questioned why forces that claim to be secular, certain sections of the international media, and human rights platforms around the world remain completely silent on this issue.
He further stated that exiled Bangladeshi writer and human rights activist Taslima Nasrin has publicly revealed that a false charge of blasphemy was levelled against Deepu Chandra Das, and despite being under police protection, he was abandoned. Alok Kumar said that this reflects the complete and deliberate collapse of the rule of law in Bangladesh and the state’s serious evasion of responsibility. Alok Kumar ji stated that Bangladesh is currently experiencing a grave period of uncertainty, anarchy, and lawlessness. In this terrifying environment, extremist and radical elements have unleashed unrestrained violence against Hindus, Sikhs, and other minority communities.

The inhuman murder of this Hindu youth is not an isolated incident but a horrifying reflection of the growing insecurity, fear, and systematic persecution faced by minorities across Bangladesh. He emphasised that this situation is a matter of grave concern for the entire world. It is the moral and humanitarian duty of the international community to take immediate and effective steps to ensure the safety of minorities in Bangladesh and the protection of human rights. Alok Kumar ji further said that in such circumstances, India cannot and should not remain a mute spectator. India’s tradition has been to stand with oppressed and suffering communities worldwide.
The Vishva Hindu Parishad urges the Government of India to undertake all possible diplomatic, political, and humanitarian measures to ensure the security, dignity, and honour of Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh. He explicitly demanded the immediate revocation of the Nobel Peace Prize awarded to Muhammad Yunus. He stated that leadership which fails to protect minorities and maintain law and order has no moral right to any international recognition or legitimacy. He also strongly condemned the fact that Muhammad Yunus accorded a state funeral with full honors to Sharif Usman Hadi, who had previously shared a so-called map of “Greater Bangladesh” on Facebook, openly challenging India—a map that depicted India’s seven northeastern states, West Bengal, and parts of eastern India as included within it. The Vishva Hindu Parishad has no sympathy for such elements.
Alok Kumar ji announced that the Vishva Hindu Parishad will launch a nationwide movement in every province and district of India to protest the ongoing violence against Hindus in Bangladesh and to demand justice, accountability, and international intervention. Concluding his statement, Alok Kumar ji said that the Vishva Hindu Parishad hopes that democracy, secular values, and the rule of law will soon be restored in Bangladesh. The people of Bangladesh deserve peace, human rights, and unhindered economic progress. The Government of India and the people of India will continue to support all just, legal, and humanitarian efforts to restore harmony, security, and justice in Bangladesh.
