As the heinous crimes against the minority Hindu community in Bangladesh escalates and go unhindered under the regime of Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunsu, the interim government has faced global outrage for their inhuman acts. The lawmakers from the United States and Canada have severely criticized the lynching of the innocent Hindu youth. Meanwhile, the Russian Embassy in Dhaka has reminded the Yunus regime and the sections of Bangladesh regarding the sacrifices made by India and Russia during the 1971 liberation war to separate the region from Pakistan and carve the new country called as ‘Bangladesh’.
This stark reminder emanating from the globe must awaken the Bangladesh, which is relentlessly indulged in political violence, mob lynching, targeted attacks & killing and other radical atrocities by being drifted away with radical Islamist ideologies.
The pattern of violence is against religious freedom: US lawmaker
Jenifer Rajkumar, the New York State Representative and the civil rights lawyer asserted that the horrific mob killing the Hindu youth Dipu Chandra Das in Bangladesh unleashes a disturbing pattern of violence that is brewing in Bangladesh against Hindus and other religious minorities. She also urged that the world must stand together in protecting human rights, justice of minorities and religious freedom.
“I am deeply disturbed by the ongoing violence against Bangladesh’s Hindu minority, exemplified most recently by the brutal lynching of Hindu Bangladeshi Dipu Chandra Das. A mob beat him, set him ablaze and left his body on a highway”, said Jenifer Rajkumar. “This incident is part of a troubling pattern of religious persecution and targeted violence against religious minorities in Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council has documented 2,442 incidents of violence against minorities and over 150 temples vandalized from August 2024 to July 2025”, the US lawmaker further illustrated the massive scale of atrocities faced by the minority Hindu community in Bangladesh.
She thus reiterated that the world must stand in solidarity with Bangladesh’s Hindu community and for human rights and religious freedom. “We shall share the fear, pain and the uncertainty faced by the Hindus in Bangladesh”, Jenifer Rajkumar further added.
Pogroms targeting Hindu minorities must end: Canadian MP
Shuv Majumdar, a conservative Member of Parliament from Canada ‘pogroms’ in Bangladesh, targeting the Hindu minorities must immediately end. He also sought the accountability of the interim government for all the targeted attacks and heinous crimes against the Hindus in Bangladesh. “In hours like these, we must call for an immediate end to the pogroms against Hindus, Buddhists, Christians and all minorities and for accountability of the Yunus government”, Shuv Majumdar wrote on his X social media platform.
“We must advocate tirelessly for human rights, religious freedom and accountability, no matter how uncomfortable it makes those who excuse extremism under the guise of political change, those in the media that fail to reflect reality and those at the United Nations too obsessed with equivalencies to call out violence and religious extremism” said Shuv Majumdar thus taking a sharp jibe at the religious extremism rooting in Bangladesh. He further added that thousands of violent incidents have taken place in Bangladesh since the August 2024 political turmoil particularly targeting the Hindus and other minority communities.
“Even as the interim government condemns individual acts and announces arrests, the pattern of persecution persists, fuelled by radical elements emboldened in the vacuum of stable governance”, the Canadian MP exclaimed, criticizing the failure of the interim government of Bangladesh to stop crimes against minorities and protect the minority rights.
2000 violent incidents against Hindus in 2024 alone: Canadian MP Melissa Lantsman
Another Member of Parliament from Canada Melissa Lantsman also raised her voice against the atrocities unleashed in Bangladesh targeting the Hindu minority community. She exclaimed that Hindus in Bangladesh have faced escalating including mob attacks, sexual assault, temple demolition and forced displacement. There have been over 2000 violent and inhuman incidents targeting the Hindus of Bangladesh in 2024 alone, said MP Melissa Lantsman and she also urged the global community to intervene before it’s too late.
Russia reminds Bangladesh on the role of India in its liberation
The Russian High Commission in Dhaka also made a sharp reminder to Bangladesh regarding the role and importance of India in its liberation from Pakistan during the 1971 war. Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh Alexander Grigoryevich Khozin reiterated that Bangladesh took birth due to the sacrifices made by India and Russia in the 1971 conflict with Pakistan. He further asserted that Dhaka should reduce tensions with New Delhi sooner rather than later and must not forget the role played by India and Russia in the independence of Bangladesh.
Thus by sending a warning bell to Bangladesh, Russia also acknowledged the invincible role of India in the Bangladesh liberation war. The Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh also exclaimed that New Delhi-Dhaka relations are also pivotal to the regional stability and growth of South Asia. The violence in Bangladesh has larger geopolitical implications, thus the Russian Ambassador expressed concern for the geopolitical situation in the region and urged for the immediate reduction of tensions embroiling in Bangladesh. “In the 1971 war India, Bangladesh and Russia gave shoulder to shoulder. The recent tensions must reduce as soon as possible because it is neither in the interest of India nor Bangladesh”, asserted the Russian Ambassador in Dhaka.
