Mumbai, May 2025: As India celebrates the 100th birth anniversary of the legendary playback singer Mohammed Rafi, Whistling Woods International (WWI) and its Chairman Subhash Ghai have announced a landmark tribute, The Mohd Rafi Music Scholarship.
This prestigious scholarship will be awarded annually to a meritorious student from the Whistling Woods School of Music, honouring the enduring legacy of one of India’s greatest musical icons.
The announcement will take place on 5th May 2025, during the inaugural ceremony of the Cadence Music Festival 2025, in the presence of Shahid Mohammed Rafi, the son of the legendary singer.
Speaking about the initiative, Subhash Ghai said, “Rafi Sahab’s music continues to inspire generations. Through this scholarship, we hope to nurture young talent who embody the same passion and dedication to music.”
This heartfelt gesture marks not just a tribute to a timeless genius, but also a step towards nurturing the next generation of India’s musical legends. On the other hand, Subhash Ghai’s next, ‘Amaira’ is set to release on 16th May featuring Whistling Woods International’s alumni – Sai Godbole along with Rajeshwari Sachdev and Ajinky Deo.
