Regency College Celebrates “Bonala Jathara – Telangana Food Fest” & Welcomes Freshers with Orientation Programme

Hyderabad, 23rd July 2025Regency College of Culinary Arts & Hotel Management, with 31 years of excellence in hospitality education, celebrated the vibrant “Bonala Jathara – Telangana Food Fest”, today, organised by 3rd semester BCTCA students. Set against the picturesque backdrop of Hill Top Colony, the event showcased the rich traditions of Telangana through food, decor, and performances.

The college also commenced its Orientation Programme for the new batch of BHMCT and BCTCA students. Sessions focused on building vital life skills like time management, creativity, problem-solving, and conflict resolution, led by Dr. Daniel Raj B, Mr. Hemanth, and Ms. Deepthi.

The campus transformed into a traditional jatara with decorations like Banthipoolu, gadapa muggulu, neem leaves, and a symbolic Pochamma temple. Folk icon Narsingi Narsing Rao electrified the crowd with devotional Telangana songs. Students, dressed as Pootharaju and Ellamma Thalli, warmly welcomed guests.

Culinary highlights included live counters (Aloo Bajji, Garelu, Boti Fry), regional delicacies (Kobbari Pulav, Talakaya Kura), 10 varieties of chutneys, and desserts like Paramannam and Pusa Laddu. A special Mehendi (Gorintaku) counter added to the festivity.

Esteemed chefs Chef Rizwan Khader, Chef Sateesh Kumar, Chef Prashant, Chef Pavan, and Chef Asif Syed praised the students’ culinary skills, traditional detailing, and innovative presentation.

Principal P. Ramesh Kumar Reddy stated, “At Regency, we teach not just food but culture. Events like Bonala Jatara strengthen students’ roots while preparing them for global platforms.”

With state-of-the-art kitchens, expert training in classical and modern techniques, and a legacy of winning national culinary competitions, Regency continues to be a premier destination for aspiring chefs. Alumni hold positions in top hotel chains and international platforms, reflecting the college’s strong industry connect.

“Bonala Jathara” was a grand celebration of Telangana’s heritage, bringing together tradition, learning, and hospitality – the true spirit of Regency.
