Sponsored by the North Eastern Council under the aegis of Ministry of DoNER, these facilities were funded under the Science &amp; Technology Intervention in North Eastern Region (STINER) programme.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>\u201cThis project aligns with the visionary leadership of Hon\u2019ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji, transforming Northeast India into a beacon of development and innovation,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0Dr. Majumdar stated. The facilities, with an investment of \u20b920 crore, will advance research on herbal medicines from indigenous plants.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Key Objectives of the Facility:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Establish a fully equipped Animal House for drug discovery.<\/li>\n<li>Evaluate the efficacy and safety of traditional medicines.<\/li>\n<li>Create a breeding facility for Specific Pathogen Free (SPF) animals.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct skill development programs for students.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image001J9NU.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image002N3NO.jpg\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image003TRKJ.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During his visit, Dr. Majumdar planted a sapling as part of the\u00a0<strong>&#8220;Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam&#8221;<\/strong>\u00a0campaign, which aims to plant 80 crore trees by September 2024 and 140 crore by March 2025. This initiative reflects a deep commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image0045AIU.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<strong>Review Meeting at IIT Guwahati on Higher Education<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dr. Majumdar chaired a review meeting at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati to assess the status and prospects of Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) in Assam and North East India. Discussions focused on enhancing education quality and infrastructure development, with the goal of empowering the youth of our nation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image005W6XX.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Inauguration of the Centre for Brahmaputra Studies at Gauhati University<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Later, Dr. Majumdar inaugurated the Centre for Brahmaputra Studies Building at Gauhati University, aimed at sustainable development and research on the Brahmaputra River.
