The theme for this year\u2019s event is \u2018Support Sign Language Rights\u2019.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image0011D90.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In collaboration with the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), M\/o SJE, the Indian Sign Language Research and Training Centre (ISLRTC) organized the event to mark International Sign Language Day today. During the event, Shri B.L. Verma launched several new initiatives aimed at making education and employment opportunities more inclusive for the deaf community.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Key Highlights:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><strong>Launch of 100 foundational concept videos in Indian Sign Language (ISL)<\/strong>\u00a0for Class 6 subjects, including Science, Social Science, Mathematics, and English.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image002ICSD.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\" start=\"2\">\n<li><strong>Introduction of 2,500 new sign words in the ISL Dictionary<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image003UVQO.jpg\" alt=\"The infographic showcases the launch of 2500 Indian Sign Language (ISL) terms across various subjects such as math, science, philosophy, and higher education topics. The logos of Department and ISLRTC are placed at the above\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\" start=\"3\">\n<li><strong>Unveiling of the ISL Dictionary, now available in 10 different languages<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image004DBKF.jpg\" alt=\"The message highlights that Indian Sign Language is available in 10 different languages such as Tamil, Assamese, Marathi,Gujarati,Kannada,Telugu,Bengali,Odia,Punjabi,Malayalam etcIn this infographic there is a QR code given through which dictionary can be accessed in 10 languages as mentioned\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\" start=\"4\">\n<li><strong>Release of Deaf Role Model videos,<\/strong>\u00a0developed by Indian Signing Hands, to inspire the community.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image0050JGO.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\" start=\"5\">\n<li><strong>Launch of accessible educational stories in ISL for children<\/strong>\u00a0of all age groups, fostering inclusive learning.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image006XX8P.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">6.\u00a0<strong>Inauguration of the SWAAS platform<\/strong>, offering access to websites of 25 National Institutes\/Composite Regional Centers and the Ministry.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image007RG5B.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In his speech, Shri B.L. Verma emphasized the government\u2019s ongoing commitment to the Divyangjan community, stating, \u201cSign language is not just a language for the deaf but must become a language for everyone, promoting inclusivity across society.\u201d He stressed the importance of using sign language widely for the progress of the deaf community. The Minister also praised the talent within the Divyangjan community, noting that with the right platforms, they can amaze the world with their abilities. Referring to the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, he highlighted how India\u2019s Divyang athletes made history by securing 29 medals, a remarkable achievement. He further stated that empowering the Divyangjan community will propel India forward, in line with Prime Minister Modi\u2019s vision of \u2018Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.\u2019<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image0087KHH.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Shri Rajesh Aggarwal, Secretary, DEPwD, emphasized the need for parents and society to learn and use sign language to better integrate deaf children into the mainstream.
