The newly inaugurated projects include a public park, a Reverse Osmosis (RO) water purifier system, and newly renovated buildings for a health sub-centre, and self-help group meeting hall.<\/em><\/h4>\n

Hyderabad, 13 January 2025<\/strong>:\u00a0Amazon Web Services<\/strong>\u00a0(AWS) India* today announced the completion of community development initiatives in\u00a0Meerkhanpet, Kandukur Mandal<\/strong>[1], part of\u00a0Rangareddy district in Hyderabad<\/strong>. The new initiatives \u2013 including a public park, a water purifier system, and newly renovated buildings for a health sub-center and self-help group (SHG) resource center \u2013 were handed over to the local community.<\/p>\n

The new initiatives were inaugurated in\u00a0the presence of dignitaries including\u00a0Mrs. Sabitha Indra Reddy<\/strong>, Member of Legislative Assembly, Telangana;\u00a0Sergio Loureiro<\/strong>, VP of Global Data Center Operations, AWS;\u00a0Saji P.K<\/strong>., Director of Data Center Operations \u2013 Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa, AWS;\u00a0Aditya Chowdhry<\/strong>, Director of Data Center Operations \u2013 India, AWS, and\u00a0local\u00a0ward members and local leaders. These initiatives were undertaken by Amazon with support from nonprofit organisation \u2018SEARCH<\/strong>\u2019, as part of Amazon\u2019s commitment to positively impact communities in regions where it operates.<\/p>\n

Mrs. Sabitha Indra Reddy<\/strong>, Member of Legislative Assembly, Telangana, said,\u00a0\u201cAmazon has set an inspiring example with its unwavering commitment to developing our villages. We extend heartfelt gratitude for their proactive engagement in transformative social initiatives in Rangareddy district. From constructing a state-of-the-art hospital in Meerkhanpet, Kandukur Mandal, to building essential infrastructure for women, their efforts will create a lasting impact. The SHG Resource Centre must be utilized effectively; we encourage entrepreneurial initiatives to enhance economic independence and elevate living standards. Amazon’s contribution to education is equally commendable. Their library development has sparked excitement among students, and to support this, I will personally contribute quality books to enrich villagers\u2019 knowledge and intellectual growth. The theme-based park established by Amazon is another remarkable addition, featuring an open gym, a children\u2019s play area, and a walking track. Such developments demonstrate Amazon\u2019s dedication, and it is now our collective responsibility to maintain and preserve these valuable resources. Access to clean water is no longer a challenge, thanks to the coin-operated filtered water dispensers installed by Amazon. Villagers can now easily obtain potable water. Additionally, the Health Care Center set up by Amazon, staffed with doctors and Asha workers, ensures excellent healthcare services at our doorstep. Amazon\u2019s efforts extend further, with libraries and Anganwadi centers established in neighbouring villages. These contributions are creating a ripple effect of positive change, and their impact is truly commendable.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n

The newly inaugurated public park was developed on land owned by the village Panchayat[2]. The park features an open gym, a children\u2019s play area, and a jogging track. The RO water purifier system will provide affordable and accessible drinking water to the community through an automated water dispensing machine, eliminating the dependence on external vendors for the supply of drinking water.<\/p>\n

\n

The refurbished health sub-centre will support the community\u2019s basic healthcare needs and is equipped with a medical consultation room, an in-patient room for short-term treatments and an expanded waiting area.<\/p>\n

\n

The SHG resource center now has a large meeting space, two storage rooms, and newly added washrooms. It will be used by the local women SHGs for their meetings while also serving as a space for collaboration for entrepreneurial activities.<\/p>\n

\n

In addition to these initiatives, Amazon has also installed solar streetlights and undertaken avenue plantation for village roads in Meerkhanpet. In 2022, Amazon built a Community Library and renovated the Zilla Parishad High School at Meerkhanpet, while also establishing an Amazon Think Big Space in the school, which focuses on\u00a0fostering science, technology, engineering, and math education to the school students.<\/p>\n

These new initiatives in Telangana add to the multiple initiatives already undertaken by Amazon in the state\u2019s Rangareddy district, such as the renovation of government schools, Anganwadi centres, healthcare centres and hospitals, and the launch of Think Big Spaces in multiple parts of the district including Nednur, Meerkhanpet, and Kandukur mandals.<\/p>\n
