Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath\u00a0Singh, on April 22, 2024, visited Siachen, the world\u2019s highest battlefield, to carry out a first-hand assessment of the security situation. He also interacted with the soldiers deployed in the extreme weather & tough terrain conditions. The Raksha Mantri was accompanied by Chief of the Army Staff General Manoj Pande;\u00a0General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command\u00a0Lieutenant General MV Suchindra Kumar; and\u00a0General Officer Commanding, 14 Corps\u00a0Lieutenant General\u00a0Rashim Bali.<\/p>\n
Post the aerial reconnaissance, the Raksha Mantri landed at a forward post at an altitude of 15,100 feet, and was given a detailed brief on the operational readiness in the Siachen Glacier & the prevalent security situation.\u00a0He also discussed\u00a0the aspects associated with the operational challenges\u00a0with the Commanders on ground.<\/p>\n
Addressing the soldiers,\u00a0Shri Rajnath Singh\u00a0lauded them for\u00a0walking on the virtuous path of protecting the motherland with\u00a0valour and determination in extreme conditions. He emphasised that the nation will\u00a0remain\u00a0forever\u00a0indebted to the Armed Forces personnel, as due to their sacrifices,\u00a0every citizen feels safe. \u201cWe are leading a peaceful life as we have an assurance that our\u00a0brave soldiers stand steadfast at the borders.\u00a0In the times to come, when the history of national security is written, the acts of bravery & iron-clad will of our soldiers in the icy cold glacier will be remembered with pride.\u00a0It will forever be an\u00a0inspiration for future generations,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The Raksha Mantri described\u00a0Siachen as not an ordinary land, but a symbol of India\u2019s sovereignty and determination. He stated that just\u00a0as Delhi is India\u2019s national capital, Mumbai is the financial capital and Bengaluru is the technology capital;\u00a0Siachen is the capital of courage, grit & determination.<\/p>\n
The nation recently\u00a0celebrated the\u00a040th\u00a0anniversary of the success of\u00a0Operation Meghdoot.\u00a0Shri Rajnath Singh termed the operation, which was launched by the Indian Army in Siachen on April 13, 1984,\u00a0as a golden chapter of the country\u2019s military history.\u00a0\u201cThe success of Operation Meghdoot is a matter of pride for all of us,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
On the occasion, the Raksha Mantri also\u00a0laid a wreath at the Siachen War Memorial,\u00a0as a mark of solemn tribute to the bravehearts who have made the supreme sacrifice in service of the Motherland.<\/p>\n
It may be recalled that Shri Rajnath Singh visited Leh\u00a0on March 24, 2024 and celebrated Holi with the troops. He was scheduled to visit Siachen, but it was postponed\u00a0due to\u00a0adverse weather conditions. From Leh,\u00a0the Raksha Mantri\u00a0had spoken with the soldiers posted in Siachen over phone and told them that he will soon visit\u00a0the world\u2019s highest battlefield\u00a0& interact with them.\u00a0Thus with today\u2019s visit, Shri Rajnath Singh fulfilled his promise despite his busy schedule.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
