Chennai, October 15, 2025:<\/strong> The event, held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025<\/strong>, marked a series of landmark initiatives under the leadership of Ms. Niyati A Mehta, Chairperson of FLO Chennai<\/strong>, reinforcing the chapter\u2019s commitment to fostering education, sustainable livelihoods, and inclusive growth.<\/p>\n As part of FLO\u2019s National Sustainability Programme<\/strong>, FLO Chennai distributed 20 bicycles<\/strong> to female academic toppers<\/strong> from two government higher secondary schools in Chennai\u2019s suburbs.<\/p>\n This initiative supported by Finolex Industries Limited (FIL)<\/strong> and the Mukul Madhav Foundation (MMF)<\/strong> aims to promote continued education among girls while encouraging eco-friendly mobility<\/strong> and self-reliance<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The young recipients expressed their gratitude, sharing how the bicycles would help them commute safely and confidently to school each day, reducing dropout risks and inspiring their peers to continue their education.<\/p>\n A highlight of the event was the formal launch of FLO Chennai\u2019s flagship \u201cSkilling for Livelihood\u201d<\/strong> initiative. By providing hands-on vocational training<\/strong> and business mentorship, FLO Chennai aims to create a sustainable model of financial independence<\/strong> for women, empowering them to become income generators and community leaders.<\/p>\n The event also spotlighted a major milestone in FLO Chennai\u2019s journey , the successful implementation of education-based cr\u00e8che facilities<\/strong> across 17 industrial parks<\/strong> in collaboration with the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n After 18 months of planning, construction, and capacity building<\/strong>, all centres were inaugurated earlier this month by the Hon\u2019ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu<\/strong> at the Secretariat. \nThe initiative, with an estimated outlay of \u20b940 crores<\/strong>, jointly supported by SIPCOT and FLO Chennai<\/strong>, is set to benefit over 3.23 lakh employees<\/strong>, offering working women access to safe, nurturing, and educational childcare spaces<\/strong> within industrial zones.<\/p>\n
