Venue:<\/strong> Island Grounds, Chennai To mark International Breast Cancer Awareness Month<\/strong>, CAN-STOP (Cancer Support Therapy to Overcome Pain), in collaboration with Rotary District 3234,<\/strong> successfully organized its 16th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walkathon \u2013 \u201cONE WALK ONE HOPE\u201d on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Island Grounds, Chennai.<\/p>\n The event was flagged off by Thiru Ma. Subramanian<\/strong>, Hon. Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu. Ms. Sanchita Shetty<\/strong>, Indian Actress, graced the occasion as the Special Invitee. The distinguished Guests of Honour included Rtn. Vinod Saraogi<\/strong> (District Governor, RID 3234), DGE Suresh D. Jain<\/strong>, IPDG N. S. Saravanan<\/strong>, PDG J. Sridhar<\/strong>, PDG J. B. Kamdar<\/strong>, and DGN Dr. Vijaya Bharathi Rangarajan<\/strong>, Founder of CAN-STOP and Trustee & Director, SMF.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Government of Tamil Nadu remains deeply committed to preventive healthcare from eradicating polio to advancing free cancer vaccinations for young women. I appreciate Rotary District 3234 and CANSTOP for their commendable efforts in raising awareness on breast cancer through this meaningful initiative, inspiring communities to come together for a healthier Tamil Nadu.\u201d The walkathon, centered around the theme \u201cHope Starts with ME,\u201d<\/em> aimed to raise public awareness about breast cancer prevention, early detection, and the importance of regular self-breast examination. The event drew an impressive crowd of over 5,000 participants, including cancer survivors, men supporting women in their lives, students, and members of the general public.<\/p>\n \u201cEarly detection is the greatest gift a woman can give herself and her family. Through initiatives like the \u2018Dear Akka\u2019 app, we aim to empower every woman to take charge of her breast health, because breast cancer, when detected early, is both preventable and treatable.\u201d Participants walked together in solidarity, carrying messages of hope, strength, and empowerment. The event not only celebrated survivors but also encouraged proactive health practices and community involvement in the fight against cancer.<\/p>\n \u201cOne Walk, One Hope is more than just a walkathon it\u2019s a movement of awareness and action. Together with CANSTOP, Rotary District 3234 is committed to taking breast cancer screening and prevention to every corner of Tamil Nadu through our mobile mammogram units and hospital installations, ensuring that every woman has the right to early detection and better health.\u201d Adding to the awareness initiative, several information and screening stalls were set up at the venue to educate participants on breast cancer symptoms, early detection methods, and available medical resources. The event also featured free general medical check-ups, a \u2018Donate a Mammogram\u2019 drive, and entertainment programs, creating an engaging and impactful atmosphere.<\/p>\n Now in its 27th year of service, CAN-STOP continues to serve as a beacon of hope for individuals and families affected by cancer.
