Hyderabad, 19th<\/sup>\u00a0June 2026: Dr Gullapalli N Rao<\/strong>, Founder of L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI), was presented the\u00a0SantokBaa Humanitarian\u00a0Award 2026<\/strong>, in recognition of his contributions to health care. The award is an acknowledgement and appreciation of the thousands of lives transformed with the establishment of the\u00a0L V Prasad Eye Institute<\/strong>, through compassion, service and leadership.<\/p>\n \n The SantokBaa Humanitarian Awards<\/strong>\u00a0were established by\u00a0Shri Govind Dholakia<\/strong>, Founder Chair Emeritus, Shree Ramkrishna Knowledge Foundation (SRKKF), the philanthropic arm of\u00a0Shree Ramkrishna Exports<\/strong>\u00a0(SRK) in 2006. For the past two decades, the award has honored selfless service and transformative leadership, carrying forward the legacy of compassion and selfless values embodied by Shri Govind Dholakia’s mother, SantokBaa.<\/p>\n \n The award ceremony was attended by\u00a0Mr Harivansh Narayan Singh<\/strong>, Deputy Chairman, Rajya Sabha;\u00a0Mr Harsh Sanghavi<\/strong>, Deputy Chief Minister, Gujarat;\u00a0Shri C.R. Patil<\/strong>, Hon\u2019ble Union Minister of Jal Shakti and several other luminaries.<\/p>\n \n The recipients are selected by an independent jury comprising distinguished leaders from diverse fields. The jury for the 2026 awards included\u00a0Shri Govindan Rangarajan<\/strong>, Director, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru;\u00a0Shri A.S. Kiran Kumar<\/strong>, Former Chairman, ISRO;\u00a0Admiral R. Hari Kumar\u00a0<\/strong>(Retd.), Former Chief of the Indian Navy; Shri Rishabh Shroff<\/strong>, Partner, Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas; and\u00a0Shri Shreyans Dholakia<\/strong>, Entrepreneur and Brand Custodian, SRK.<\/p>\n \n Talking about the recognition,\u00a0Dr Gullapalli N. Rao<\/strong>\u00a0said, \u201cI\u2019m honored to receive this award that represents the values that I have lived my life by – empathy, service, and a commitment to improving lives. I accept it on behalf of the many individuals and institutions who have dedicated themselves to the cause of expanding access to quality eye care. Their vision, dedication and service have created lasting impact, and it reminds us that true success is not in personal achievements but in how we uplift those around us\u201d<\/p>\n \n Over the past 20 years, the SantokBaa Humanitarian Award has honored some of India\u2019s most distinguished humanitarian and social leaders, including\u00a0Shri Ratan Tata<\/strong>, His Holiness the\u00a014th Dalai Lama, Dr. Sudha Murty, Dr. Cyrus Poonawalla, Shri Shiv Nadar, Dr. Abhay Bang<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Dr. Rani Bang, Dr. Verghese Kurien, Shri Kailash Satyarthi<\/strong>, and\u00a0Shri A.S. Kiran Kumar<\/strong>, among other eminent personalities.<\/p>\n \n Other recipients were\u00a0Smt.
