Hyderabad, June 28th<\/sup>, 2026<\/strong>:\u00a0Renowned dancer and Guru\u00a0Padma Shri Dr. Ananda Shankar Jayant<\/strong>\u00a0will present\u00a0\u201cDancing Tales \u2013 Panchatantra\u201d<\/strong>, a unique dance theatre production by\u00a0Shankarananda Kalakshetra<\/strong>, on\u00a0Friday, July 3, 2026<\/strong>, at\u00a0Ravindra Bharati, Hyderabad<\/strong>, from\u00a0<\/strong>6:45 PM onwards<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \n This program is being presented\u00a0with the support of the\u00a0Ministry of Culture, Govt of India<\/strong>\u00a0under the Scheme \u2018Assistance to Cultural Organisations with National Presence<\/strong>\u2019.<\/p>\n \n Dancing Tales \u2013 Panchatantra is choreographed and directed by\u00a0Dr Ananda Shankar Jayant<\/strong>\u00a0and is to be performed by 20 + artists from Hyderabad and Bangalore. Well known dancer\u00a0Mithun Shyam<\/strong>\u00a0from Bangalore is in the lead along with\u00a0Aditi Rao Ashtaputre<\/strong>, and senior dancers of Shankarananda Kalakshetra.<\/p>\n \n Dancing Tales… Panchatantra<\/strong>\u00a0– brings alive some of the most well-known tales from the Panchatantra, where through parable and allegory, the production talks about friendship, bravery, quick wittedness, foolishness, leadership and freedom.<\/p>\n \n In this 78-minute dance-theatre production laced with humour and wit, five well known stories from the Panchatantra come alive – The smart hare that outwitted the mighty Lion, the king of the forest; the foolish monkey who gets his tail caught in the wedge; the cranes and the tortoise, the evil crocodile and the monkey; and the escape of the doves.<\/p>\n Music for this lyric free production is by well-known musician and composer\u00a0Prema Ramamurthy<\/strong>, with English narration by\u00a0Jayant Dwarkanath<\/strong>\u00a0layering the production. Costumes by\u00a0Ganesh Nallari<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Deepa Krishnamachari<\/strong>, digital design by\u00a0Gunjan Ashtaputre<\/strong>\u00a0and lights by\u00a0Surya Rao<\/strong>, alongside the unique choreography and movement design by Ananda Shankar Jayant, bring these eternal fables of the Panchatantra to modern audiences with a rare flair and aesthetic.<\/p>\n \n Ananda says, \u2018Each story of the \u2018Panchatantra\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0with its moral and philosophical theme has withstood the test of time and bears relevance in the present times, when we are being buffeted by cross winds, both psychological and spiritual. I have been inspired to translate these stories into dance, as these stories have centuries of wisdom, compressed into a funny and innocuously small fables, that find resonance in each one of us. These parables, are universal and carry eternal pointers to life, holding up a mirror to oneself as well as a mirror to society, all delivered in pithy stories with fun and laughter\u2019<\/p>\n \n The enchanting show promises to captivate both adults and children alike.<\/strong><\/p>\n \n Entry to the show is free.
