17 Patients reunited with the families after successful counselling in the last 30 days<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n
Hyderabad, 1st<\/sup>\u00a0July 2026<\/strong>: A team of qualified and well-trained Psychiatric Social counselors will be assisting patients\u00a0Institute of Mental Health (IMH)<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Eragadda, the state-run tertiary center for mental Health.<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\nHelping Hand Foundation<\/strong>, the health care nonprofit that provides voluntary patient care support services and systems in state run hospitals has now collaborated with\u00a0IMH<\/strong>\u00a0to enhance patient care & counseling services.<\/p>\n\n
The Counseling services are mapped in the\u00a0Discharge Ward (DC Ward)<\/strong>\u00a0where the patients who have completed treatment & are mentally stable but yet to be taken back by their families, the\u00a0de-addiction ward & the Clinical Psychology department<\/strong>, apart from the In-Patient wards, counselors will assist patients in the\u00a0OPD Block<\/strong>\u00a0and in the pharmacy block.<\/p>\n\n
A total of\u00a05<\/strong>\u00a0Psychiatric Social workers,\u00a02<\/strong>\u00a0in DC Ward and de-addiction ward,\u00a01<\/strong>\u00a0in Clinical Psychology ward and\u00a02<\/strong>\u00a0in OPD have been assigned the duty as per the roster issued by the hospital.<\/p>\n\n
The main task of Counselors in the\u00a0DC & de addiction ward<\/strong>\u00a0will be to enhance family support, communication and patient social engagement. The counselors are tasked to have daily interactions with the family members to help reconnect the patients back to the family, since the launch of the counselling services\u00a017<\/strong>\u00a0patients have been successfully rejoined with their families.<\/p>\n\n
Apart from this, the counselors are engaging in helping them do yoga, stretching, and breathing exercises. There is a library area where they read newspapers and books, practice writing etc. Cognitive behavioral activities, brain games, recreational therapy along with motivational sessions are some of the other activities which the counselors are helping the patients perform.<\/p>\n

In addition to the helpdesk services, HHF has also contributed towards improving patient welfare by providing\u00a050<\/strong>\u00a0plastic chairs, indoor games, wall fans, a large screen LED TV and by undertaking civil works, wall painting in the female ward, toilet renovation works and other infrastructure improvements.<\/p>\n\n
