Initially met with scepticism and resistance, these minimally invasive procedures were first offered to elderly, high-risk patients who were unsuitable for open-heart surgery. Their remarkable success has since been validated through robust clinical trials, establishing TAVR as a standard treatment worldwide. Today, the\u00a0Heart Team<\/strong>\u00a0approach, where cardiologists and cardiac surgeons jointly determine the most appropriate treatment for each patient, has become the global standard, reflecting the successful convergence of interventional cardiology and cardiac surgery. While challenges such as affordability, access, and long-term outcomes remain, innovation continues at a rapid pace.
