Over two and a half decades, the brand has watched Madras evolve into Chennai,its neighbourhoods transform, its homes change, its people move with the times,while retaining the unmistakable character that makes the city feel like home.<\/p>\n This Madras Day, Woodpecker is celebrating that relationship with\u00a0Madras Checks<\/strong>, a new design-led initiative that pays tribute to the city through furniture.<\/p>\n The\u00a0Madras Checks Superfest<\/strong>, beginning August 22, is Woodpecker\u2019s celebration of the city,not as it exists in a photograph or a memory, but as something that continues to evolve.<\/p>\n At the heart of the initiative is a simple idea:\u00a0what if a piece of Madras could become a piece of furniture?<\/strong><\/p>\n Madras Checks, with their familiar patterns, colours and nostalgic associations, provide the starting point. Woodpecker is reinterpreting this recognisable visual language through contemporary furniture, bringing together something deeply familiar with something distinctly new.<\/p>\n The celebration will begin at\u00a0Woodpecker\u2019s first-ever store in Besant Nagar<\/strong>, the very place where the brand\u2019s journey in the city began. On August 22, the store will become the starting point for the Madras Checks experience, before the initiative extends across Woodpecker\u2019s other stores in Chennai.<\/p>\n The first expression of the collection will be a specially designed\u00a0wing chair<\/strong>, presented in a selection of Madras-inspired checks. Customers will be invited to experience the different interpretations and choose the checks that resonate with them, making the launch as much about personal memories and preferences as it is about design.<\/p>\n But the initiative is intended to be bigger than a single piece of furniture.<\/p>\n Madras Checks is Woodpecker\u2019s way of exploring how the visual and cultural memories of a city can find their way into contemporary homes.
