Toronto, Ontario–(Newsfile Corp. – August 22, 2026) – Metal Energy Corp. (TSXV: MERG) (“Metal Energy” or the “Company”)\u00a0confirms that two members of its exploration team were passengers aboard a charter aircraft that was forced to make an emergency landing on the outskirts of Prince George, British Columbia, on August 20, 2026. The aircraft came into contact with several vehicles on a roadway during the landing, and the Company has since learned that an occupant of one of those vehicles has passed away.<\/p>\n

On behalf of everyone at Metal Energy, we extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of the individual who lost their life. Our thoughts are with them, and with the first responders and the residents of Prince George affected by this tragic event.<\/p>\n

The Company’s employees were not injured. Metal Energy understands that the pilot and the remaining passengers on board, who were personnel of other mineral exploration companies, were also unharmed. The flight was carrying crew members out on a scheduled rotation break from the Company’s NIV copper-gold-molybdenum project in the Toodoggone District of north-central British Columbia.<\/p>\n

“This is a devastating outcome for a family and for the Prince George community, and our hearts go out to them,” said Charlie Greig, Chief Executive Officer of Metal Energy. “The safety of our employees, our contractors and the public is fundamental to how this Company operates. We are relieved that our colleagues are safe, and our attention now is on supporting everyone touched by this incident.”<\/p>\n

Metal Energy is providing support to the employees involved and to its field crew, and is in contact with the aircraft charter company. The incident is under investigation by the Transportation Safety Board of Canada and other authorities, and the Company will cooperate fully with that process. Out of respect for those affected and for the integrity of the investigation, Metal Energy will not be commenting further on the circumstances of the incident.<\/p>\n
