Education costs in 2026 continue to rise, but for Indian students, the landscape of financial aid has become more structured and digital-first. Navigating these opportunities requires staying updated on the latest shifts in government portals and private grants.

The Major Shift: NSP OTR System 2026

The most significant update for 2026 is the mandatory One-Time Registration (OTR) on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). Students no longer need to register from scratch every year. Instead, they receive a lifelong 14-digit OTR ID.

Update: Unlike previous years, 2026 applications now require Face-Authentication via the NSP OTR App. This measure aims to eliminate duplicate applications and ensure that benefits reach the rightful Aadhaar-linked account holder.
