
Jaipur, April 29 : The ENT Department of Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Medical College and its affiliated hospital in Jaipur has undergone a significant upgrade with the inauguration of modern facilities by Medical and Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar on Wednesday.
Addressing the gathering, the minister stated that such developmental initiatives are highly beneficial not only for improving patient care but also for enhancing the education of undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) medical students.
Modern Facilities to Deliver Dual Benefits Khimsar emphasized that the expansion of advanced medical infrastructure is a crucial step towards providing better healthcare services to the people of Rajasthan. He expressed confidence that such initiatives will help the state achieve new heights in both medical education and healthcare delivery.
Dr. Pawan Singhal Highlights Key Achievements Head of the ENT Department, outlined the major improvements made in the department, including advancements in patient care, UG/PG teaching, faculty development, and research.
He highlighted that one of the most significant achievements is the establishment of a state-of-the-art cochlear implant operation theatre, which will facilitate complex ear surgeries and hearing restoration procedures.
Establishment of Skill Lab and Neuro-Otology Lab Dr. Singhal informed that an 800 sq. ft. surgical skills lab with 10 stations has been developed to provide hands-on training to resident doctors.
Additionally, a comprehensive neuro-otology lab has been set up for the diagnosis and treatment of vertigo and related disorders.
Improved OPD and Audiology Services The OPD and OT blocks have been renovated, and several advanced instruments, including a complete sialendoscopy set, have been added.
Audiology services have also been strengthened with new rooms, modern machines, and the appointment of five audiologists, along with the development of an eight-room audiology wing.
Strict Action on Indiscipline Dr. Singhal also mentioned that two audiologists were relieved from duty due to indiscipline and negligence, ensuring better departmental functioning.
Towards a Center of Excellence This upgrade marks a significant step towards transforming the ENT Department into a Center of Excellence, integrating advanced healthcare services with high-quality medical education and training.
The event was attended by Principal Controller Dr. Deepak Maheshwari, Superintendent Dr. Mrinal Joshi, BJP leader Shravan Singh Bagdi, along with a large number of doctors and resident staff.
