Ten Teams, One Dream: A Celebration of Talent, Inclusion, and Sporting Excellence

Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh

In a major step toward promoting inclusivity and equal opportunities in sports, the Indian Deaf Cricket Association, or IDCA, has officially inaugurated the U-19 3rd T20 National Cricket Championship for Deaf 2026 in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. The week-long tournament brings together some of the most promising young deaf cricketers from across India, highlighting talent, determination, and the growing spirit of deaf cricket in the country.

The championship was inaugurated on June 22 at the RDT Stadium Cricket Ground in Anantapur with a grand opening ceremony attended by distinguished guests, sports administrators, and cricket enthusiasts. Organized by the Indian Deaf Cricket Association and hosted by the Deaf Cricket Association of Andhra Pradesh, the event reflects a strong commitment to promoting inclusivity and equal participation in competitive sports.

A total of ten teams from different states are participating in the prestigious tournament. The competing teams include Delhi, Mumbai, Haryana, Odisha, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh.

Over the next several days, these talented young athletes will compete in 23 league matches, showcasing their cricketing skills, teamwork, and determination to excel on the national stage.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, IDCA President Sumit Jain expressed his delight at seeing the championship grow into a national platform for young deaf athletes.

He said the tournament represents the resilience, passion, and extraordinary talent of India’s deaf cricketers. He also thanked the organization’s supporters and partners for helping turn the vision of an inclusive cricket ecosystem into reality.

According to Jain, the championship is not just about competition but also about creating opportunities, building confidence, and inspiring future generations of deaf athletes across the country.

The event is being hosted by the Deaf Cricket Association of Andhra Pradesh. General Secretary Challagali Raghu welcomed participants from across India and emphasized the importance of nurturing deaf cricket talent.

He stated that hosting the national championship is a proud moment for Andhra Pradesh and a significant milestone in promoting awareness and support for deaf sports. He also expressed confidence that the tournament would create excitement while encouraging greater participation in cricket among differently-abled youth.

The championship has received support from several prominent organizations. The principal support partner for the event is the Serum Institute of India, while additional support has come from organizations including KFC India, Kaizzen, Impact Research & Measurement, RB Foundation, and the Vicente Ferrer Foundation.

Officials believe such partnerships are playing a vital role in strengthening the foundation of deaf cricket and expanding opportunities for talented athletes across the nation.

Beyond the competition, the championship serves as a powerful message of inclusion and empowerment. It demonstrates how sports can break barriers, create opportunities, and unite people regardless of physical challenges.

For the participating players, this tournament is more than a sporting event—it is a chance to represent their states, inspire others, and prove that determination and talent know no boundaries.

As the matches get underway in Anantapur, all eyes will be on these rising stars of Indian deaf cricket. The championship promises exciting contests, unforgettable performances, and a celebration of courage, perseverance, and sporting excellence.
