Contemporary Now Edition III Kicks Off in Chennai with ‘Breakfast at Ashvita’s’

CHENNAI — Art enthusiasts and collectors gathered in Mylapore today as the third edition of Contemporary Now officially launched with an exclusive morning program titled “Breakfast at Ashvita’s.”

Running from August 8 to August 25, 2026, this edition brings together prominent art galleries, cultural partners, and featured artists across two primary locations in Chennai: Ashvita’s Campus and Ashvita’s Flagship.

A Packed Opening Morning
The multi-event morning schedule gave attendees an immersive experience combining community engagement, rare archival insights, and cutting-edge contemporary artwork:
Morning Gathering (9:00 AM – 10:00 AM): The festival commenced with a social breakfast session, welcoming guests for a morning centered around immersive art.

Sculpture Preview (10:00 AM): Artist C. Krishnaswamy unveiled a preview of his compelling new sculpture collection, titled Continuiverse.
Archival Open House (10:00 AM – 11:00 AM): Guests explored the Ashvita’s Archival and Conservation Center warehouse at the Ashvita’s Campus (4, Second Street, Dr. Radhakrishnan Salai, Mylapore).
Artist Presentation (11:00 AM – 12:00 PM): The morning concluded at Ashvita’s Flagship (2nd Floor, 39, Dr. Radhakrishnan Salai, Ozone Premia, Mylapore) with a presentation by artist Benitha Perciyal K. titled “How Long Will We Live? Or When Will We Die?”

Contemporary Now Edition III features a strong lineup of participating galleries and institutional partners from across India, including:
Participating Galleries: Ashvita’s, Chatterjee & Lal, Chemould Prescott Road, Experimenter, Project 88, TARQ, and Vadehra Art Gallery.
Partner Programs: India Art Fair, Chennai Photo Biennale Foundation, Altan Foundation for the Arts (ATA), Gallery Veda, and Apparao Galleries.
