‘Navodaya Vidyalaya Foundation Day’ was celebrated at PM SHRI School Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Hathijan, Ahmedabad on 5th August 2026. The event was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav, Postmaster General, North Gujarat Region, by lighting the ceremonial lamp along with the JNV Principal, Shri R. K. Dixit and other distinguished guests. The celebration featured captivating cultural performances by the students, while various aspects of the progress and achievements of Navodaya Vidyalayas were highlighted. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav, an alumnus of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya and currently Postmaster General, North Gujarat Region, Ahmedabad said that despite being a government institution, Navodaya Vidyalayas have earned a distinguished place in the India through their commitment to academic excellence, outstanding examination results, and holistic personality development. Navodayans are making remarkable contributions at both national and international levels in diverse fields such as politics, Civil services, public administration, medicine, engineering, education, the armed forces, business, entrepreneurship, and social service. Today, Navodaya has become a brand with the spirit of ‘Hamin Navodaya Ho. On the occasion of Navodaya Foundation Day, a Painting Competition was organized in which Manav and Mayur Thakor secured the First Prize, Mudra won the Second Prize, and Ved Parmar was awarded the Third Prize. The programme was efficiently compered by Class XI students, Khyati and Anjali. The event also featured discussions on various dimensions of the progress and achievements of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya. Prominent alumni, including Dr. Jayesh Vaja, Mr. Anupam Parmar, and Mr. Meghil Chauhan, shared their inspiring experiences and highlighted the role of Navodaya Vidyalaya in shaping their personal and professional journeys. More than 550 Navodaya students enthusiastically participated in the Foundation Day celebrations.

In his address, the Chief Guest, Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav, Postmaster General, said that the journey of Navodaya, which began on April 13, 1986, with two schools, has now expanded to 661 Navodaya Vidyalaya over the past four decades. Navodaya Vidyalaya Foundation Day is celebrated on 5th August, as Union Cabinet of India approved the Navodaya Vidyalaya scheme on 5th August 1985. Inspired by the principles of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ and ‘Shiksharth Aaiye, Sevarth Jaiye,’ (Come to learn, Go for serve) instills a sense of nationalism that transcends caste, religion, and region. With a network of over 19 lakh JNV alumni across the India, Navodaya is committed to steering society in a new direction. Navodaya is not merely an educational institution but a lifelong family that nurtures enduring bonds among its students. While Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are spread across diverse geographical regions of the country, they are united by a common ethos. Every Navodayan shares a strong sense of camaraderie, belonging, and pride, carrying the lasting imprint of Navodaya’s values, discipline, and culture wherever they go.

The Principal of PM Shri School, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Hathijan, Ahmedabad, Shri R.K. Dixit, said that the objective of the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti is to provide quality modern education to meritorious students from rural areas, irrespective of their socio-economic background and to foster national integration, social values, environmental conservation, sports, adventure activities, and leadership qualities among them.

Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav told that Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya gave him much more than an education—it instilled in him the courage to dream, the confidence to pursue those dreams, and the determination to face every challenge. Throughout his journey—from his selection for the Civil Services in 2001 as IPoS Officer to the present day—the values instilled in him by Navodaya have remained his greatest asset. Navodaya taught its students that limited resources are never a barrier to extraordinary success when one has a clear vision, unwavering determination, and the willingness to work hard. Encouraging the students, Shri K K Yadav urged them to believe in their dreams and transform them into reality through dedication, discipline, and perseverance.

Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav said that Gen-Z is the generation of Artificial Intelligence, digital transformation, and innovation. In such an era, it is essential for students to develop not only technological proficiency but also strong ethical values, creative thinking, leadership qualities, and social responsibility. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya are preparing students for a developed India by blending modern education with Indian values.

On the occasion, Principal Mr. R. K. Dixit, Vice Principal Mr. Sunil Mahrshi, Mr. B. K. Rawat, Mr. D. V. Makwana, Ms. Anita Dabral, Ms. Nilixa Dabhi, Mr. H. A. Kadri, Mr. B. G. Panda, Mr. Prakash Meghwal, Mr. Sudhir Ashre, Mr. A. N. Chaudhary, along with faculty members, parents, alumni, and other distinguished guests, were present.
