Woodpecker Furniture Unfolds a New Expression of Madras Through Design

A Madras Day showcase brings together contemporary furniture, iconic Madras checks and the comfort of home

This Madras Day, Woodpecker Furniture celebrated the spirit of the city through “Madras Unfolded”, a curated experience that brought together design, culture, nostalgia and contemporary living.

At the heart of the showcase were two distinctive pieces, the Besant Accent Chair and the Elliot Recliner Sofa ,created to bring the familiar character of Madras checks into contemporary home interiors.

The Besant Accent Chair, featuring a distinctive Madras checks pattern, combines a strong visual identity with the comfort and functionality expected from an everyday living piece. The Elliot, a single-seat recliner featuring the same Madras checks print, brings together the character of the pattern with a more relaxed, comfort-led experience.

The pieces became an integral part of the Madras Unfolded experience, with guests encouraged to interact with and experience the furniture firsthand. While the distinctive checks immediately drew attention, the comfort of the pieces became an equally important part of the experience, with guests appreciating the cushioning, support and relaxed seating experience.

The showcase highlighted the idea that statement furniture does not have to compromise on comfort – that pieces can be expressive and distinctive while still being designed for everyday living.

The space for Madras Unfolded was conceptualised and styled by Triple O Studio, creating a setting that allowed the furniture to be experienced as part of a contemporary home rather than simply displayed as individual products. The overall environment brought together the visual language of Madras with a modern approach to interiors.

The event brought together customers, influencers, creators and design enthusiasts, offering guests an opportunity to discover the collection, experience the furniture and engage with the ideas behind the showcase.

At its core, Madras Unfolded was an exploration of how the character of a city can find its way into the spaces we live in. Through the Besant Accent Chair and Elliot Recliner Sofa, Woodpecker brought a recognisable Madras visual language into contemporary furniture, while keeping comfort and functionality at the centre of the experience.

The showcase also reflects Woodpecker’s evolving approach to furniture , bringing together design, comfort, personality and everyday functionality to offer customers pieces that can become distinctive elements within their homes.
