New Delhi.

Hyderabad-headquartered edtech enterprise byteXL has officially raised $9 million in its latest funding round led by impact investment firm Elevar Equity. Existing institutional backers, including Kalaari Capital and The Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, also participated in the transaction.

The fresh injection of growth capital will be channeled directly toward transforming higher engineering education in non-metro India by embedding state-of-the-art artificial intelligence (AI) tools, industry-aligned curricula, and hands-on cloud labs directly into standard college degree programs.

Strategic Growth Targets: Scaling to 500,000 Students

With this capital, byteXL has laid out a multi-year blueprint to scale its footprint in engineering colleges across Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities:

  • Institutional Expansion: Scaling operations from 40 to 120 partner institutions within two years.
  • Student Footprint: Expanding total active student enrollment from 200,000 to over 500,000 learners across 15 Indian states.
  • Academic Integration: Deepening its proprietary curriculum integration model, which incorporates practical AI skills directly into four-year degree programs.
  • Platform R&D: Building advanced AI-enabled assessment frameworks, personalized learning path generators, and student analytics dashboards.

Partner Colleges : 40 Institutions  ——->  120 Institutions

Active Learners  : 200,000 Students ——->  500,000 Students

By bringing software practitioners, interactive cloud environments, and automated skill assessments directly to student campuses, byteXL lowers the barrier to entry for engineering undergraduates outside major technology hubs.

“As we enter our next phase of growth, our focus will be on expanding our institutional footprint, deepening our technology and AI capabilities, and building byteXL into a larger and more impactful player in India’s technology education ecosystem.”

— Karun Tadepalli, Co-founder & CEO, byteXL

“Quality education and employability are among the highest-priority investments… What stands out to us is byteXL’s institutional integration and clear potential to build a highly scalable, differentiated platform that empowers the next generation of tech talent across non-metro India.”

— Sandeep Farias, Founder & Managing Partner, Elevar Equity
