Lucknow. Wednesday, 29 April 2026

The spiritual landscape of Ayodhya has reached a new milestone. The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has introduced a revised darshan circuit that allows devotees to connect with the modern history of the temple. The highlight of this update is the opening of the Alternate Sanctum (Garbhagriha)—the exact site where Ram Lalla resided for nearly four years during the temple’s construction.

🏛️ The Transformation of the Temporary Shrine

On March 25, 2020, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath moved the deity of Ram Lalla to a temporary wooden structure. Following the grand consecration on January 22, 2024, this site has been renovated into a permanent, magnificent alternate sanctum. An Akhand Jyoti (eternal flame) now burns here, marking the area’s historical and spiritual significance.

🛤️ New Extended Darshan Route

To manage the increasing footfall of 2026, the Trust has integrated several sub-temples into the exit path for general devotees.

Sites included in the new route:

  • The Main Temple: The primary darshan of the consecrated Ram Lalla idol.

  • Saptarishi Temple: Dedicated to the seven celestial sages.

  • Sheshavatar Temple: A shrine honoring Lord Lakshman.

  • The Alternate Sanctum: Located conveniently on the path toward Kuber Tila.

  • Kuber Tila: Featuring the ancient Shiva temple and the Jatayu statue.

🛂 Access and Security: What You Need to Know

The access to these new sites is currently structured based on the type of pass you hold:

Pass Type Access to Alternate Sanctum Status
General Pass Yes Included in the standard exit route.
Sugam/VIP Pass No These use separate entry/exit gates that bypass the perimeters.

Important Rule Changes for 2026:

  1. Mobile Phone Ban: Strict prohibition on carrying mobile phones inside the complex; lockers are provided at entry.

  2. Pass Limits: A single mobile number can now book a maximum of 5 passes (reduced from 8) to ensure transparency.

  3. Dress Code: Traditional Indian attire (Dhoti-Kurta for men, Saree/Suits for women) is strongly encouraged to maintain the sanctity of the temple.

🔍Clarification

While some unofficial sources may mention a fee for VIP entries, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has recently removed the “Special Darshan” (VIP) option from the official portal to promote equality. General and Sugam darshans remain free of cost.
