
– Sending Rakhis just got easier: ‘Water-Resistant’ designer Rakhi Covers and Gift Boxes available at all Post Offices across North Gujarat- Postmaster General Krishna Kumar Yadav
Keeping in view the forthcoming Raksha Bandhan festival, India Post has already started preparations well in advance. To facilitate the safe and timely delivery of Rakhi—the cherished symbol of the bond between brothers and sisters—Postmaster General, North Gujarat Region, Ahmedabad Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav released specially designed Rakhi Covers and Rakhi Gift Boxes for sale through Post Offices. These special Rakhi Covers and Rakhi Gift Boxes are being made available for sale at all Head Post Offices, Sub Post Offices, and Branch Post Offices located in remote villages across the districts of Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Mahesana, Aravalli, Sabarkantha, Banaskantha, and Patan under the North Gujarat Region. They are also be made available for sale through Railway Mail Service counters.
Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav added that these Rakhi envelopes available in three unique designs are water resistant and will not get damaged upon contact with rain. These envelopes of 11 cm X 22 cm size cost only ₹10 which is exclusive of postage charges. Additionally, Rakhi Gift Boxes in three different sizes—250 grams, 500 grams, and 1 kilogram—are also being made available for sale at Post Office and Railway Mail Service counters at prices of ₹35, ₹40, and ₹50 respectively. These gift boxes enable customers to conveniently send Rakhis along with sweets and gifts to their loved ones across India and abroad through India Post Parcel. The Rakhi Covers and Gift Boxes feature attractive designs incorporating the India Post logo and traditional Raksha Bandhan motifs, including Rakhis, flowers, a puja thali, and artistic depictions of the affectionate bond between brothers and sisters. Owing to their distinctive colourful and designer appearance, these Rakhi Covers can be easily identified and segregated from regular mails, thereby saving valuable time during mail processing and facilitating their priority handling and delivery before the Raksha Bandhan festival. Along with special booking of Rakhi post, arrangements have also been made for quick sorting in the National Sorting Hubs and Parcel hubs. Rakhi mails can be sent abroad at affordable rates through International Tracked Packet Service.
A senior IPoS Officer Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav, Postmaster General told that to ensure sisters do not face any inconvenience in sending Rakhi, 24 hour booking facilities have been made available at the National Sorting Hub located at the Speed Post Bhavan, Shahibaug, Maninagar Railway Station, Navrangpura Head Post Office, Himmatnagar Head Post Office, and Mahesana Head Post Office, as well as RMS counters in Rajkot, Surat, and Vadodara. In addition, booking facilities are available up to 8:00 PM at Ahmedabad GPO, Business Development Cell, Manekbag Post Office, Railwaypura Post Office, Deesa Mukhya Dakghar, Palanpur Head Post Office, Gandhinagar Head Post Office, Kalol Head Post Office, and Patan Head Post Office, enabling customers to conveniently book their Rakhi mail and ensure its timely delivery.
