Kochi, August 2026: This Onam, Ramraj Cotton has taken the celebrations to a record-breaking scale, earning a place in the Asia Book of Records for creating Mundukalam a ‘Largest Pookkalam Display Created Using Dhotis’. The brand created a spectacular Mundukalam, which was 30 ft in diameters using around 3,000 dhotis, at Forum Mall, Kochi, bringing together Kerala’s beloved festive tradition and Ramraj Cotton’s signature garment in a striking new form.

Created on August 9th, 2026, the remarkable creation is more than a record of scale. It is a celebration of Ramraj Cotton’s deep connection with Indian textile traditions and its continued effort to present them in fresh, engaging and contemporary ways. By transforming thousands of dhotis into an enormous Mundukalam, the brand has given one of Kerala’s most cherished festive traditions a distinctive new expression.

The Asia Book of Records award was presented by Mr. Sanjay Bhola, Adjudicator, Asia Book of Records to The Culturepreneur Mr. K.R. Nagarajan, Founder & Chairman, Ramraj Cotton and Mr. B.R Arun Eshwar, Managing Director, Ramraj Cotton

Speaking on the occasion, The Culturepreneur, Mr. K.R. Nagarajan, Founder & Chairman, Ramraj Cotton, said, “For us, the dhoti is much more than a garment; it is a part of our cultural fabric and a tradition that has been passed down through generations. This Onam, we wanted to celebrate that connection in a way that people could experience and remember. Creating a Mundukalam with nearly 3,000 dhotis allowed us to bring together the spirit of Onam and the legacy of the dhoti in one celebration. We are proud that this initiative has found recognition in the Asia Book of Records, but more importantly, we are happy to have created a moment that celebrates our traditions in a way that feels fresh and relevant.”
