Mumbai. Monday, 25 May 2026

India’s leading automobile manufacturer, Tata Motors, is preparing to shake up the budget vehicle segment yet again. The company is all set to officially launch the refreshed, heavily updated version of its popular hatchback, the Tata Tiago, on May 28, 2026.

True to its multi-powertrain strategy, Tata Motors will introduce these modern cosmetic and feature upgrades across its entire lineup, covering Petrol, i-CNG, and Electric (EV) variants simultaneously.

What’s New: Sleeker Exterior and Premium Cabin Layout

Following a recent teaser campaign, the incoming Tiago facelift adopts Tata’s sharper, more futuristic design language. The front fascia undergoes a complete overhaul, separating the identities of the conventional internal combustion engine (ICE) versions and the electric vehicles more distinctly.

Redesigned Front Fascia

The Petrol and CNG models will sport a gloss-black grille inspired by the premium Altroz hatchback, complemented by sharper headlamp housings and eyebrow-style LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs). The Tiago EV, on the other hand, steps into the future with a fully closed, body-colored front grille panel and unique bumper accents, giving it an ultra-modern EV aesthetic.

Upgraded Interior and Comfort

Inside, the cabin waves goodbye to the previous model’s basic layout. Drivers will be greeted by a premium dual-tone black and grey dashboard theme. More importantly, Tata has addressed long-standing consumer feedback by introducing highly requested convenience features:

  • Front center armrest for fatigue-free highway cruising.

  • Dedicated rear AC vents to ensure faster cabin cooling for rear passengers during harsh Indian summers.

The Big Correction: Premium Technology Upgrades

While early reports suggested a basic cabin refreshment, actual production insights reveal that the 2026 Tata Tiago facelift borrows massive technological upgrades from its larger siblings, the Punch and Nexon:

  • Dual Digital Displays: The outdated semi-digital instrument cluster is replaced by a fully digital driver’s display alongside a massive 10.25-inch floating infotainment touchscreen featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

  • 360-Degree Camera: In a segment-first move, the updated Tiago will feature a surround-view camera setup, making parking in tight city spaces effortless.

  • Wireless Charging: A dual wireless smartphone charging pad is integrated seamlessly into the lower center console.

Safety First: Aiming for a 5-Star Rating

Tata Motors has built its modern reputation on vehicle safety. While the outgoing Tiago model boasted an impressive 4-star Global NCAP safety rating with dual front airbags, the 2026 facelift raises the bar significantly.

To comply with stricter safety evaluations and rising customer expectations, Tata Motors is expected to equip the updated Tiago with six airbags as standard across higher variants, alongside Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and ISOFIX child seat mounts. This defensive package positions the Tiago perfectly to target a flawless 5-star safety rating, making it arguably the safest entry-level hatchback on Indian roads.

Engine Specifications & Expected Pricing

Under the hood, the mechanical configurations remain reliable and highly efficient. The petrol and i-CNG variants will continue to use the proven 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Revotron engine. The Tiago EV will maintain its practical split of Medium Range (19.2 kWh) and Long Range (24 kWh) battery packs.

Official pricing details will be revealed at the launch event on May 28, 2026. Industry experts estimate the petrol variants to start at an aggressive ₹4.50 Lakh, while the Tiago EV facelift is projected to start around ₹8.00 Lakh (ex-showroom), solidifying its crown as the most affordable, feature-packed premium EV in India.
