12th December, 2025, Gurgaon: READ-India is a long-term partner of Amazon India for its community engagement programmes in the Northern region. Today, they were proud to see the Pragati Mitras and Gram Mitras take away appreciation and honours, at Ideathon SAHYOG, the second edition of Ideathon, a signature programme of Amazon India’s Community Engagement team.

The theme of this year’s Ideathon was SAHYOG, which brought to life the spirit of collaboration between Amazon itsmany partners and individuals who came together to deliver social impact.

READ-India has a robust programme of creating community ambassadors. For last 8 years, they have created the Gram Mitra, Pragati Mitra model for Amazon India, where these community volunteers work closely with Gram Panchayats, labour officers, and police authorities, to help communities in areas of education, women’s empowerment, livelihoods, health, and environmental sustainability.

Along with Amazon, READ-India has been working towards improving the lives and livelihoods of local communities. These Gram Mitra and Pragati Mitra volunteers now serve as vital links between Amazon and the communities around Amazon’s key facilities, raising awareness and increasing access to social security programmes.

Pleased to be at Ideathon Sahyog, Geeta Malhotra, India Head, READ-India, said “Community Engagement has been the focal point for READ-India, with our ‘Community-first’ approach. We are engaging, empowering, and educating the rural community with patience and perseverance for well-defined outcomes”

Aptly themed SAHYOG, the day-long event celebrated the commendable work done by the various NGOs, skill-based volunteers, governments and more. READ-India’s ground partners were recognised for their work across initiatives that primarily delivered livelihood, food security, social security, working with Amazon’s skill-based volunteers.

Two READ-India trained Pragati Mitra, and Gram Mitra took away the Ideathon Sahyog Rewards and Recognition Award- with Jatin Kumar winning the Best Gram Mitra Award and Suraj Mandal winning the Best Pragati Mitra Award. The category of Community Ambassador Awards, celebrates exemplary volunteering efforts which have delivered meaningful community engagement, delivering significant impact.
